Notable nominees include Chubby Checker, whose "The Twist" helped shape early rock and roll, and Mariah Carey, who has achieved 19 Billboard Hot 100 #1 hits. The nominations also feature two sets of formerly estranged brothers: Oasis's Gallagher brothers and The Black Crowes' Robinson brothers.

Selection criteria include:

  • Artist's impact on other musicians
  • Career longevity and body of work
  • Innovation and technical excellence
  • First commercial recording must be at least 25 years old

The final inductees will be chosen by over 1,200 voters, including artists, industry professionals, and historians. Winners will be announced in late April, with the induction ceremony taking place in Los Angeles this fall.

Last year's inductees included Mary J. Blige, Cher, Foreigner, A Tribe Called Quest, Kool & The Gang, Ozzy Osbourne, Dave Matthews Band, and Peter Frampton.
