Grande, who began her career at age 19, emphasizes the challenges of dealing with fame at a young age, including body image issues, relationship rumors, and public scrutiny. She believes major studios and record labels should provide therapeutic support as a non-negotiable part of artist contracts, given their awareness of how fame impacts young performers.
"It's so important that these record labels, these studios, these TV studios, these big production companies, make [therapy] a part of the contract when you sign on to do something that's going to change your life in that way," Grande stated. She recommends multiple therapy sessions per week for artists.
The singer's advocacy follows her own experiences as a young star on Nickelodeon's "Victorious." In a previous conversation on Penn Badgley's "Podcrushed" podcast, Grande discussed "reprocessing" her time on set, highlighting the need for safer environments for young performers.
Her comments align with recent industry discussions about label responsibilities toward artist well-being, sparked by Chappell Roan's Grammy acceptance speech. Grande emphasizes that artists, being naturally vulnerable people, need protection from the negative aspects of fame while maintaining their artistic integrity.
