Following a Supreme Court decision upholding a law that would ban TikTok in the US, CEO Shou Zi Chew released a video thanking President-elect Trump for his support in keeping the platform operational in the United States.

The development comes after a significant phone call between Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping, where they discussed trade, fentanyl, and TikTok's future. Chew specifically praised Trump's commitment to finding a solution, highlighting Trump's own successful presence on the platform, which has generated over 60 billion views.

The timing is crucial as the TikTok ban is set to take effect on January 19, just one day before Trump's inauguration. The Biden administration has declined to enforce the ban, leaving the responsibility to the incoming Trump administration.

Trump described his conversation with President Xi as "very good" for both countries, posting on Truth Social about their shared commitment to global peace and safety. This discussion occurs against the backdrop of Trump's campaign promises to increase tariffs on Chinese goods by up to 60%.

Chinese Vice President Han Zheng will attend Trump's inauguration ceremony, following Trump's unprecedented invitation to President Xi. The event will also be attended by notable tech executives, including TikTok CEO Chew, Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and Mark Zuckerberg.
