Sean "Diddy" Combs has accused federal prosecutors of leaking hotel security footage showing him attacking Cassie Ventura in 2016, a claim authorities strongly deny.

Prosecutors responded firmly to these allegations in a letter to the judge, stating they "were not in possession of the video before its publication by CNN" and had not obtained it through grand jury proceedings. They emphasized that Homeland Security Investigations had not accessed the footage prior to CNN's release.

The video, which CNN obtained in May, forced Combs to publicly acknowledge and apologize for the incident he had previously denied. Currently held without bail, Combs faces serious charges including sex trafficking, transportation to engage in prostitution, and racketeering conspiracy.

His defense team argues that information leaks have resulted in "damaging, highly prejudicial publicity" that could compromise his right to a fair trial. They are seeking a trial date in April or May 2025.
