The organization plans to raise additional funds through two upcoming events: the FireAid benefit concert at the Kia Forum and Intuit Dome on January 30, and the MusiCares Person of the Year celebration honoring The Grateful Dead. The Grammy Awards has also modified its programming to support wildfire relief efforts.
Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. reports that thousands of music industry professionals have requested assistance, with all current funds already allocated. Importantly, recipients don't need to be Recording Academy members to qualify for aid. Eligibility requirements include:
- Three years of music industry work experience OR
- Six commercially released recordings
The relief package includes:
- $1,500 in financial assistance
- $500 grocery card
MusiCares anticipates the need for support will continue for several years, as many industry professionals have lost their homes, studios, instruments, and ability to earn a living. The organization is actively seeking additional donations to meet the growing demand for assistance.
