Metallica is launching a new Vision Pro 'immersive concert experience' on March 14th, alongside an Apple Music-exclusive EP featuring spatial audio recordings from their Mexico City concert.

The immersive experience, filmed during Metallica's September 2024 performance at the 65,000-capacity Estadio GNP Seguros, will feature performances of "Whiplash," "One," and "Enter Sandman."

Apple captured the performances using 14 immersive video cameras, incorporating stabilized, cable-suspended, and remote-controlled dolly systems on a custom stage layout. The filming took place during one of four sold-out shows that concluded the M72 World Tour's 2024 leg.

Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich has described the Vision Pro experience as "game-changing" during a SXSW conversation with Apple Music's Zane Lowe. Apple marketing executive Tor Myhren emphasizes that the technology allows viewers to feel as if they're "front row, backstage, and even on stage" with the band.

The accompanying EP, "M72 World Tour: Mexico City," will be available exclusively on Apple Music, featuring spatial audio recordings from the concert.

Additionally, Apple announced that Bono: Stories of Surrender will premiere on May 30th on both Apple TV+ and Vision Pro, marking the first feature-length film available in Apple Immersive Video format.

This release follows other Vision Pro music experiences, including Raye's "Concert for One" and Synth Riders' recent "Current Waves" music pack featuring artists like David Guetta, Sia, and Charli XCX.
