Jose Maldonado claims investigators pretending to be federal agents, working for Roc Nation, contacted him and offered money to sue the Buzbee Law Firm after confirming he was a former client. The Buzbee Law Firm is currently handling a 'Jane Doe' rape case against Jay-Z and multiple sexual assault cases against Diddy.
The investigators allegedly admitted being paid by Roc Nation and stated they were forwarding cases to lawyer Marcy Croft, who has long-standing ties with Quinn Emanuel. Roc Nation is a Quinn Emanuel client.
Tony Buzbee, who represents over 150 alleged victims of Sean "Diddy" Combs, stated: "The conduct alleged by Mr. Maldonado is illegal and unethical. We know investigators have gone all over the United States illegally contacting our former clients to try to entice them with money to sue our firm. According to Mr. Maldonado, we now know who is behind this effort. We won't be intimidated nor deterred in our important work."
The December lawsuit against Quinn Emanuel included a transcript of alleged conversations where individuals posed as federal investigators to solicit legal malpractice suits against Buzbee. Currently, Combs remains in federal custody facing charges including racketeering and sex trafficking, while Roc Nation founder Jay-Z faces lawsuits alleging abuse connected to Combs.
