The platform utilizes Large Language Model (LLM) AI technology combined with anthropological expertise to match user intent with suitable live music events. Having developed this technology for over five years, Hearby aims to function as a knowledgeable friend offering personalized concert recommendations.
"Giant shows for artists like Beyoncé and Taylor Swift are only one-third of the market," explains Area4Labs cofounder Ian Condry. "The rest of live music events in smaller venues is scattered and difficult to find."

Key Features and Benefits:
- Comprehensive coverage of live music shows across UK cities and towns
- Plans for North American expansion in 2025
- Discovers events beyond major venues, including restaurants with live music
- Provides personalized recommendations based on user preferences
- Enables social sharing of curated show lists
Initial testing reveals the platform successfully identifies local venues and lesser-known performances, though some refinements are needed for genre accuracy. The system is designed to learn and improve over time based on user interactions.
CEO Gary Halliwell emphasizes that Ask Hearby is "the first of its kind in the live event discovery space," distinguishing itself from post-purchase support chatbots by focusing on the crucial discovery phase of concert attendance.
Future developments will focus on enhanced personalization features, allowing users to generate and share customized show lists on social media, making live music more accessible and discoverable at various price points and venues.
