Ed-tech platform Conduction has secured $265,000 in pre-seed funding from the Richard King Mellon Foundation to transform music education through digital innovation.

The funding will support three key initiatives:

  • Development of proprietary music software modules
  • Expansion of corporate partnerships
  • Growth of school programs across Pennsylvania and the United States

Conduction addresses a critical gap in music education, as millions of U.S. students lack access to music programs. The platform enables students to create digital songs while meeting national education standards through:

  • Beat making and composition
  • Songwriting instruction
  • Sheet music education
  • Band integration
  • Weekly song creation contests

A unique feature of the platform involves local musicians creating music videos of student-selected songs within days of creation, enhancing student engagement and participation.

"Today's students want to become producers, DJs, songwriters, and beatmakers," says Joe Maggiore, CEO and co-founder of Conduction. "We're meeting students where their interests lie while incorporating critical national music education standards."

The platform currently partners with dozens of schools and districts, with over 100 schools ready to implement the solution. Conduction also works with corporations to sponsor music education programs through cost subsidization, making quality music education more accessible and affordable for schools nationwide.
