This fundraising concert will feature an impressive lineup of metal icons including Metallica, Anthrax, Gojira, Pantera, and Slayer. Ozzy Osbourne, who has recently stepped back from performing due to health issues, will perform a short solo set before joining his former bandmates.
"It's my time to go Back to the Beginning... time for me to give back to the place where I was born," said Ozzy. "Birmingham is the true home of metal. Birmingham Forever."
Sharon Osbourne confirmed this will be 76-year-old Ozzy's final concert. Tom Morello, serving as musical director, has dubbed it "the greatest heavy metal show ever."
The event will also feature a supergroup including Billy Corgan, Slash, Fred Durst, Wolfgang Van Halen, and Tom Morello, along with performances from Alice in Chains, Halestorm, Lamb of God, and Mastodon. All proceeds will benefit Cure Parkinson's, Birmingham Children's Hospital, and Acorn Children's Hospice.
Black Sabbath, formed in Birmingham in 1968, has sold over 75 million albums worldwide and pioneered the heavy metal genre. Tickets go on sale at 10 AM GMT on Friday, February 14 via Live Nation.
