Big Machine Records, one of the most influential record labels in country music, is currently owned by Scooter Braun's Ithaca Holdings LLC and HYBE Corporation. The ownership journey of this prestigious label has seen significant changes over recent years.

Originally founded by Scott Borchetta in 2005, Big Machine Label Group remained independently owned until June 2019. At that time, Scooter Braun's company, Ithaca Holdings LLC, acquired the label for approximately $300 million. This acquisition included Big Machine's client roster, distribution deals, publishing rights, and owned artist masters.

In April 2021, HYBE Corporation (formerly known as Big Hit Entertainment and home to K-pop group BTS) purchased Ithaca Holdings for $1.05 billion. Through this deal, HYBE became the parent company of Big Machine Label Group, while Braun's Ithaca Holdings maintains direct operational control.

The current ownership structure can be broken down as follows:

- HYBE Corporation: Parent company and ultimate owner
- Ithaca Holdings LLC: Direct controlling entity
- Scooter Braun: CEO of Ithaca Holdings and key decision-maker
- Scott Borchetta: Continues as President and CEO of Big Machine Label Group

This ownership arrangement has maintained Big Machine's position as a major force in the music industry, particularly in country music. The label continues to represent notable artists and release commercially successful music under its current ownership structure.

The acquisition sparked significant media attention, particularly regarding the ownership of Taylor Swift's master recordings, which were part of the initial sale to Ithaca Holdings. However, these masters were subsequently sold to Shamrock Holdings in November 2020.

Today, Big Machine Records operates as a subsidiary of HYBE America, combining Korean entertainment industry expertise with traditional American music business operations, creating a unique global entertainment powerhouse.
