Anthropic Set to Close Massive $2B Funding Round, Hitting $60B+ Valuation
Anthropic is finalizing a $2 billion funding round that would value the AI company at over $60 billion, more than tripling its previous valuation from last year. This positions Anthropic as the fifth most valuable U.S. startup, according to CB Insights data.

Amazon has been a major investor, contributing $8 billion total through two rounds - $4 billion in September 2023 and another $4 billion in November 2024. The current round is being led by Lightspeed Venture Partners.
The company's rapid growth is reflected in its annualized revenue of approximately $875 million, primarily from business sales. This places it behind OpenAI, which projects $3.7 billion in revenue from its premium ChatGPT service. For comparison, OpenAI's current valuation stands at $157 billion, while Elon Musk's xAI is valued at $50 billion.
Anthropic recently committed to maintaining guardrails that prevent copyrighted content from appearing in AI responses. While the company can improve and optimize these filters, they must maintain their effectiveness at protecting copyrighted material.
This funding round demonstrates the continued strong investor confidence in AI technology companies, with Anthropic's valuation growing significantly from its previous $18 billion valuation by Menlo Ventures following the initial Amazon investment.
