Web3 Startup Story Acquires Producer Rights to Blackpink Hits for NFT Sales
Web3 startup Story has acquired producer rights to several Blackpink tracks and other K-pop recordings, planning to sell them as NFTs to fans. The acquisition includes partial rights to Blackpink's "Yeah Yeah Yeah" and "Ready For Love," along with Jisoo's "Flower," "All Eyes On Me," and Bigbang's "Still Life."

The company has previously tokenized hits from major artists including Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Dua Lipa, and Maroon 5. Their project has already raised over $10 million, with $7 million secured in the first 10 minutes.
According to a Story spokesperson, the rights were acquired directly from producers involved in creating these songs. Investors who participate will receive a portion of copyrights and income streams, with Story projecting an annualized royalty yield of 6-8% over the next five years.
This development comes as Blackpink's Lisa Manobal makes her acting debut in Season 3 of HBO Max's "The White Lotus." While music NFTs have become less common since their peak in 2021, Story's initiative represents a continued effort to bridge K-pop intellectual property with blockchain technology.
The project operates through Story's IP RWA protocol via Aria, focusing on tokenizing what the company calls "sensational K-pop IP." This move demonstrates ongoing interest in blockchain-based music rights ownership, despite the overall cooling of the NFT market since 2021.
