TikTok Expands 'Add to Music App' with Full-Album Pre-Save Feature
TikTok is expanding its Add to Music App feature to include full-album pre-saves, allowing users to save entire albums to music streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music before their release.

The feature, which launched about a year ago and recently expanded to 163 additional countries, automatically adds pre-saved albums to users' libraries on release day. Early testing includes upcoming releases like Blackpink's Rosé's album "Rosie," scheduled for December.
This expansion comes amid several challenges for TikTok:
- A January 19th deadline to sell or shut down U.S. operations under the Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act
- Multiple lawsuits from U.S. states regarding child safety concerns
- Recent legal action in Brazil seeking $530 million in damages over data protection and mental health issues
- A split with Merlin affecting relationships with independent music labels
- Growing competition from YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, Triller, Loops, and Connyct
The success of this album pre-save feature will depend on TikTok's ability to navigate these challenges while maintaining its position in the global social media landscape.
