Songwriter Fund Reopens Applications After Distributing $400K in Relief Payments

The Songwriter Fund is reopening applications for its third round of financial support after successfully distributing $400,000 in one-time relief payments to songwriters. This initiative, backed by SONA and Sony Music Publishing, will begin accepting new applications on April 28th.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be 18 or older
  • Based in the United States
  • Minimum 2 years of professional songwriting experience
  • At least 2 years of PRO (Performing Rights Organization) membership

The fund provides $1,000 grants specifically for critical life expenses, including:

  • Food
  • Housing
  • Medical bills

Application Requirements:

  • Personal information
  • Photo ID
  • PRO membership proof
  • Verified songwriting credits

The Songwriter Fund is one of only two initiatives providing direct COVID-19 relief to the songwriting community, alongside PRS for Music's Emergency Relief Fund. This effort joins other industry support programs, such as Van Morrison's "Lockdown Financial Hardship Fund," which launched in November and completed its second round of distributions in February 2021.
