Snowflake Data Thieves Face 60 Years After Massive Ticketmaster, AT&T Breaches

Two hackers have been indicted for orchestrating a massive cyber attack affecting 165 corporations, including Ticketmaster and AT&T. Connor Moucka and John Binns are charged with executing international computer hacking and wire fraud schemes between November 2023 and October 2024.

The hackers gained unauthorized access to billions of sensitive customer records, including:

  • Call and text history records
  • Banking and financial information
  • Payroll records
  • DEA registration numbers
  • Driver's license numbers
  • Passport numbers
  • Social Security numbers
  • Personal identification information

Between April and May 2024, the duo breached Ticketmaster's cloud computing systems, stealing data from hundreds of millions of customers. They attempted to extort the company by threatening to publish the stolen information and offered to sell the data on cybercriminal forums.

Connor Moucka was arrested in Canada in October 2024, while John Binns operated from Turkey during the attacks. The charges they face include:

  • Wire fraud
  • Securities fraud
  • Conspiracy to commit fraud
  • Unauthorized computer access
  • Data theft
  • Privacy violations

If convicted, they could face up to 60 years in prison, with individual charges carrying sentences between 5 to 25 years each.
