Key Details of the Agreement:
- New rate: 0.2824% of each station's net revenue
- Represents a 10.4% increase from previous rate of 0.2557%
- Non-music stations will maintain substantial discounts
- Applies to approximately 10,000 U.S. terrestrial stations
SESAC President Scott Jungmichel highlighted two significant victories:
- The 10% rate increase despite RMLC's attempts to lower rates
- A broader revenue base for fee calculations compared to the 2017 agreement
This resolution follows several other recent music licensing disputes, including:
- RMLC's settlement with Global Music Rights (GMR)
- GMR's resolution of payment complaints against Red Wolf Broadcasting and One Putt Broadcasting
- A recently dismissed case between GMR and Vermont Broadcast Associates
The final long-form terms are still being finalized, with specific details expected to be released in the coming weeks.
