The initiative collects unused or unwanted musical instruments to donate them to children and young people participating in music programs both in the UK and internationally. Each donated instrument receives a unique tracking number, allowing donors to follow their instrument's journey to its final destination.
Since its inception in 2015, the amnesty program has successfully collected and distributed over 3,000 musical instruments to those in need. Originally an annual event, it transitioned to a bi-annual format following the COVID-19 pandemic interruption in 2020.
Ada Ologbosere, Head of the Ronnie Scott's Foundation, emphasizes the program's significance: "We are delighted to bring this initiative back for another year, revitalizing instruments and providing young people in underserved communities the opportunity to develop their skills and realize their potential."
Those interested in donating can:
- Bring instruments directly to the club on January 25, 2025
- Contact Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club in advance for additional information
- Ensure instruments are in gently used condition
The program continues to be a cornerstone of the Ronnie Scott's Charitable Foundation's commitment to supporting music education and nurturing future musical talent.
