Reservoir Acquires Lastrada Catalog, Including Jim Croce and Snoop Dogg Hits
Reservoir Media has acquired Lastrada Entertainment's publishing catalog, encompassing over 5,600 compositions from diverse artists across multiple genres. The deal, while financial terms remain undisclosed, includes significant works from both classic and contemporary music.
Key compositions in the acquisition include:
- Jim Croce's "Bad, Bad Leroy Brown" and "Time in a Bottle"
- Captain & Tennille's "Love Will Keep Us Together"
- Zapp's "More Bounce to the Ounce"

The catalog also features interests in works recorded by prominent hip-hop artists through samples, including:
- 2Pac's "California Love" (sampling Ronnie Hudson's "West Coast Poplock")
- Songs by Ne-Yo, Kanye West, Drake, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, and Rick Ross
Stephen Moelis, former president of music publishing at Lastrada, called the sale "the natural next step" for the company his family built over 40 years ago. Reservoir's chief operating officer Rell Lafargue committed to preserving the Moelis family's legacy while ensuring the catalog's continued success.
This acquisition follows Reservoir's recent focus on hip-hop investments, including publishing deals with Snoop Dogg, Death Row, and 2Pac collaborator Big D Evans in 2024.
The deal reflects the current momentum in music IP acquisitions, following Sony Music's reported $600 million purchase of 50% of Michael Jackson's catalog. With billions already allocated for song rights, 2025 is expected to see continued activity in music catalog acquisitions.
