Daniel Alejandro Velásquez Franco, known professionally as Dr. Velásquez, was instrumental in shaping Medellín's reggaeton scene. While he maintained a solo singing career from 2014 to 2018, his most significant impact came from discovering and developing major Latin artists. His most recent success was discovering and signing Blessd to JMW Music in 2019.

Following the news, numerous artists expressed their condolences, including J Balvin, Maluma, and Blessd, who wrote, "A lot of growth and living experiences, independently of breaking our professional ties. This has impacted me. Peace on your grave."
