The deal encompasses Perlman's extensive catalog, featuring performances of classical masterpieces like Vivaldi's The Four Seasons, Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto, and "Black Orpheus"/"Manha De Carnaval." It also includes his contributions to film scores such as Schindler's List and Memoirs of a Geisha.
The 79-year-old musician, a 15-time Grammy winner and Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient, expressed enthusiasm about exploring new opportunities with Primary Wave. The partnership aims to develop marketing initiatives, sync opportunities, and new film and television projects.
"I am excited to work with Primary Wave to see what plans they develop to take care of my recordings and to see what new opportunities they bring to the table," said Perlman, who first gained prominence on The Ed Sullivan Show nearly 67 years ago.
Primary Wave VP of business and legal affairs Lexi Todd praised Perlman as "hands-down the greatest violinist of our time," emphasizing the company's commitment to spreading his musicianship and story to new audiences.
This partnership follows Primary Wave's recent investment in Chuck Mangione's publishing rights and precedes BMG's worldwide administrative agreement with flamenco guitarist Paco de Lucía's catalog.
