The victims included Ward (37), his fiancee Zelena, and their friends Audrey Maris Ross (29) and Amanda Lynn Leroux (30). The accident happened just after 9 PM when their Subaru SUV, while pulling out of a driveway, was struck by a BMW driven by Nicholas Shane Meeks (31).
Meeks has been charged with four counts of felony DUI involving death and was denied bond. Records show he was driving with a suspended license and had a previous DUI charge from March 2024, for which he had pled guilty.
Ward's band Voraath had recently celebrated significant milestones, including the release of their debut full-length album "Vol. 1: The Hymn of the Hunters" in June 2024. The band had been sharing their accomplishments on social media just hours before the incident. Ward had also posted a New Year's message with his young son, Kai, on Facebook that same day.
A GoFundMe campaign has been established in Ward's memory, raising over $20,000 to date.
