Michael Jackson Biopic 'Michael' Moves to October 2025 Release
Lionsgate has pushed back the release of 'Michael,' their highly anticipated Michael Jackson biopic, to October 3, 2025 - a six-month delay from its original April 18 release date.
The film stars Jaafar Jackson, Michael's nephew, in the lead role, alongside Nia Long, Laura Harrier, Miles Teller, and Colman Domingo. Antoine Fuqua directs from a script by John Logan, with Graham King, John Branca, and John McClain producing.

The biopic will feature 30 of Jackson's songs and aims for a comprehensive portrayal of the pop icon's life. Director Fuqua emphasized his personal connection to the project, noting Jackson's influence on his career while promising to explore the artist's humanity.
The October release positions 'Michael' strategically for awards season consideration, following the success pattern of Queen biopic 'Bohemian Rhapsody,' which was also produced by Graham King and earned four Oscars while grossing over $903 million worldwide.
First footage from the film was previewed at CinemaCon in April, generating significant buzz among industry insiders.
