Lizzo's Legal Team Moves to Dismiss 'Meritless' Ex-Employee Harassment Lawsuit
Lizzo's attorneys filed a motion to dismiss a harassment and discrimination lawsuit brought by former clothing designer Asha Daniels, who worked on the singer's tour. The legal team characterizes the allegations as "meritless and salacious."
Daniels filed the suit in September 2023 in Los Angeles, claiming Lizzo and her team fostered a "racist and sexualized" work environment, contradicting the singer's public message of inclusion and body positivity.
The motion to dismiss argues that:
- Daniels failed to perform assigned work duties
- She was terminated after missing Lizzo's Paris show
- The lawsuit was filed in the wrong jurisdiction, as Daniels is a New York resident who worked for a Delaware corporation in Europe

Ron Zambrano, Daniels' attorney, counters that this is another attempt by Lizzo's team to "shift blame to the victims," noting three other plaintiffs have filed similar allegations of harassment, discrimination, and retaliatory termination.
The case follows an August lawsuit by three former dancers who alleged sexual, racial, and religious harassment during their time on tour. Lizzo has publicly denied all allegations on social media.
