Bassist Eric Avery recently shared a recording session video on Instagram, confirming collaboration with drummer Stephen Perkins and guitarist Dave Navarro. "Writing some more new lines to some of Stephen's drumming. Looking forward to getting some Mr. Navarro on them. 2025!" Avery wrote.
This development comes four months after an on-stage incident in Boston where Farrell attacked Navarro, leading to the cancellation of their reunion tour due to what the band cited as Farrell's "continuing pattern of behavior and mental health difficulties."
The current collaboration mirrors the band's 1991 split, which led to Navarro and Avery forming Deconstruction. That project produced one self-titled album in 1994 before Navarro joined Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Navarro recently reflected on the Deconstruction era on Instagram: "I think that some of the magic between Eric and I musically is most definitely evident on this project. I'd say it's more cinematic and soundscapey than traditional song-oriented... Having revisited it after all these years I believe this record contains some of my favorite recorded playing and interplay between E's bass and my guitar."
While the trio hasn't officially labeled this new project as Deconstruction 2.0, they are actively creating new material, marking their first collaboration without Farrell in nearly three decades.
