Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. stated the event will be coordinated with local authorities to ensure public safety and responsible resource use. This year's ceremony will have an additional focus on raising funds for wildfire relief efforts and honoring first responders.
The Recording Academy and MusiCares have already launched the Los Angeles Fire Relief Effort with an initial $1 million donation, which has grown to over $2 million in distributed emergency aid for affected music professionals.
Currently, the Los Angeles wildfires have claimed 25 lives, with 92,000 people under evacuation orders and another 89,000 in warning zones.
Universal Music Group has cancelled all Grammy-related events, including their artist showcase and afterparty, redirecting these resources to wildfire relief efforts. In their statement, UMG expressed commitment to supporting the music community, artists, teams, and Los Angeles residents through this crisis.
"In these challenging times, music has the power to heal, comfort, and unite like nothing else," Mason wrote in his letter to Recording Academy members. "The Grammys will not only honor the artistry and achievements of our music community but also serve as a platform to amplify the spirit of resilience that defines this great city of Los Angeles."
