Starting as a pianist at age six, The Wong Janice discovered her true musical calling with the cello at eight years old. "The sound of cello is so rich and is the closest instrument to the human voice. That spoke to me," she explains.

Her Chinese background naturally led her to music, particularly orchestral performance. While initially focused on classical training, a pivotal moment at age thirteen introduced her to pop music when a teacher encouraged her to play "Shimmer" in a band setting.

Despite her growing love for pop music, a significant career setback occurred during an audition with a famous singer when Janice froze during an improvisation session. This experience, coupled with a music teacher's discouraging words about her potential as a solo classical musician, led her to temporarily abandon music for a corporate career in marketing.

After feeling stuck in her corporate role, Janice attended a transformative ten-day silent meditation retreat. This experience helped her realize that "the shackles to suffering are our reactions to situations," leading to a profound mindset shift.

Following a job loss that she viewed as an opportunity, Janice studied at Abbey Road Institute in Amsterdam to pursue music production. Through careful self-reflection and market research, she discovered her true calling: creating meditative cello music.

Today, Janice produces and distributes her meditation music through CD Baby, having released multiple successful albums. Her journey taught her to "let go of always chasing more" and focus on creating music that helps listeners find freedom and peace.

"I would like to continue to make music to feel free, and give my listeners that chance to also let go and be free," she shares, embodying her philosophy of finding contentment in authentic musical expression.
