Explicit Adult Videos Found in Spotify Search Results Sparking Policy Concerns
Explicit porn videos have been discovered appearing in Spotify search results, raising concerns about content moderation on the platform. A Reddit user first highlighted the issue after finding adult content when searching for "mia," which included explicit thumbnails and video results.
The explicit content appears to exploit Spotify's new video feature through podcast uploads. While some accounts have historically posted erotic audio content, the platform is now seeing fully explicit video material appearing in search results.

Spotify has responded swiftly by removing the offending content, citing violations of their platform policies which explicitly prohibit sexually explicit material. However, the reporting process remains cumbersome, requiring users to submit reports through a separate webpage rather than within the app.
This isn't Spotify's first content moderation challenge. In 2022, the platform faced similar issues with explicit audio content and inappropriate playlist cover art. The platform has also previously dealt with controversial content, including neo-Nazi and white supremacist material, which led to the removal of 37 bands following a Digital Music News report.
The incident highlights ongoing challenges in content moderation and the need for more robust safeguards against inappropriate material on music streaming platforms.
