Deezer Expands Artist-Centric Streaming Model Through SACEM Partnership in France
Deezer has partnered with SACEM to implement its 'artist-centric payment system' (ACPS) for publishing rights in France, becoming the first digital service provider to modernize publishing remuneration in the streaming era.

The new model introduces two key features:
- Artists with 1,000+ streams from 500 different subscribers monthly receive double payment per stream
- Songs found through direct searches or non-algorithmic playlists also receive doubled compensation
This system aims to:
- Direct more subscriber payments to actively listened artists
- Combat streaming fraud
- Create fairer compensation for working artists
- Support genuine fan engagement
- Promote musical diversity
Deezer CEO Alexis Lanternier emphasizes that this innovation benefits the entire music ecosystem, while SACEM CEO Cécile Rap-Veber notes that the model effectively rewards authentic music creation while excluding artificial noise.
The partnership builds on Deezer's successful ACPS implementation for recorded music in 2023, establishing a framework that could influence industry-wide adoption of more equitable streaming payment models. Both organizations have also committed to addressing AI-related challenges in music streaming through initiatives like the Ed Newton Rex program.
This collaboration represents a significant step toward creating a more sustainable and fair music streaming ecosystem that better serves creators, publishers, and authentic music engagement.
