Daryl Hall Confirms Hall & Oates Partnership Is Permanently Over
Hall & Oates' iconic musical partnership has reached its definitive end, with Daryl Hall declaring they will never perform together again. This announcement follows their major falling out in 2023 over business dealings.

The conflict erupted when John Oates attempted to sell his stake in their joint publishing company, Whole Oats Enterprises, to Primary Wave Music. Hall responded with a lawsuit, calling it "the ultimate partnership betrayal" and a "completely clandestine and bad faith move."
Speaking to The Times of London, Hall stated, "That ship has gone to the bottom of the ocean," regarding any future collaborations. He also emphasized his dominant role in their success, claiming he wrote about 90% of their hits.
Oates defended his actions on Good Morning America, explaining, "People do it all the time... you look at all the artists who are selling their catalogs." He maintained that the decision would allow Hall to "be his own man."
The legendary duo, who sold over 60 million records and achieved 16 Top 10 singles, always marketed themselves as individual talents working together, officially billing themselves as "Daryl Hall & John Oates" rather than "Hall & Oates."
Hall continues his musical journey, having recently collaborated with Dave Stewart of Eurythmics on his sixth solo studio album, "D." His impressive list of past collaborators includes Elvis Costello, Bob Dylan, Stevie Wonder, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, and David Bowie.
