Brooklyn Made, a Bushwick music venue, has suddenly closed its doors following a complex legal battle between its owners, Anthony Makes and Kelly Winrich.

The venue announced its closure with a brief message: "Brooklyn Made is closed, all shows are cancelled. Ticket refunds will be issued at point of purchase."

The closure stems from a significant legal dispute where Winrich accused Makes and his wife of:

  • Fraudulent inducement
  • Breach of fiduciary duties
  • Mismanaging ventures
  • Diverting company funds for personal use
  • Blocking access to finances and operations

According to court documents, Winrich claims these actions led his family to invest over $75 million in various live music ventures. Makes allegedly promised lucrative partnerships, including a potential Spotify investment, to secure long-term leases and additional capital.

The parties reached a settlement in principle, resulting in the venue's closure. Makes stated: "I am very pleased that this partnership has ended and I am out of those buildings. I'm looking forward to the next chapter."

The sudden shutdown has affected numerous upcoming shows, with artists like Amigo the Devil already relocating their performances to alternative venues. All previously scheduled events are cancelled, with refunds available at the original point of purchase.

Brooklyn Made opened in 2021 as a collaboration between Makes, a former Live Nation executive, and Winrich, owner of Brooklyn's Maracuja. The venue operated for nearly four years before its closure.
