Concord Expands Theater Empire with Broadway Licensing Global Acquisition
Concord has acquired Broadway Licensing Global (BLG), incorporating its major theatrical licensing subsidiaries into the Concord Theatricals division. This strategic acquisition excludes BLG's Stageworks and Broadway On Demand properties.

The acquisition brings several key assets under Concord's umbrella:
- Broadway Licensing (featuring shows like A Night with Janis Joplin and The Cher Show)
- Dramatists Play Service
- Playscripts
- Stage Rights
Customer operations will remain unchanged, with clients continuing to work with their existing licensing houses. This merger combines 150 titles and 400 authors already shared between the companies, while creating opportunities for new relationships.
Notable developments:
- Sean Cercone, BLG's founder and CEO, departed in March 2024 to launch Dramallama
- Concord was advised by Reed Smith, Davis Wright Tremaine, and KPMG
- Barron International Group served as the exclusive financial advisor
- BLG received counsel from Goldman and Proskauer Rose
Sean Patrick Flahaven, Concord's chief theatricals executive, emphasized the company's mission to champion authors by promoting and protecting their work while empowering theatre makers to reach global audiences.
This acquisition strengthens Concord Theatricals' position as the only firm providing comprehensive services for plays and musicals, including licensing, publishing, and cast recording services.
