Private Dancer was a pivotal album in Turner's career, selling 10 million copies and earning three Grammy awards. The album's standout hit, "What's Love Got to Do With It," reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, while the album peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200.
Turner, who passed away on May 24, 2023, at age 83, emerged as a solo artist after leaving her abusive marriage to Ike Turner. Her 1986 autobiography, "I, Tina," chronicled her experiences and established her as an inspiration for abuse survivors.
Following her death, a 55-track greatest hits compilation was released, celebrating her 50-year solo career and featuring her memorable cover of Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love" alongside her biggest hits.
