Universal Music Group Relocates to Manhattan's Penn District in Major NYC Office Move
Universal Music Group is relocating its New York offices to Penn 2 in The Penn District, Manhattan, signing a 22-year lease in one of the city's busiest areas.

The new headquarters will house major labels including Def Jam Recordings, Island Records, Mercury Records, and Republic Records, along with Bravado and Verve Label Group. Universal Music Publishing Group's East Coast offices will also operate from this location.
UMG will occupy floors four through seven, featuring:
- Ground-floor retail space for music fans
- Private lobby on 33rd Street with direct elevator access
- Large-scale LED signage for artist promotion
- State-of-the-art studio production facilities
- 3,500 square feet of landscaped outdoor space
The facility is part of The Bustle, a 430-foot-wide office space with 23-foot-high, column-free areas. These new production facilities join UMG's global studio network, including Abbey Road Studios (London), Capitol Studios (LA), and East Iris Studios (Nashville).
The $750-million Penn 2 development includes:
- Modern glass curtain wall
- Triple-height lobby
- 16 double-height outdoor tenant loggias
- 72,000 square feet of outdoor green spaces
- 30,000 square feet of curated retail
- Rooftop pavilion and event space
- 280-seat Town Hall
Located above North America's largest transit hub, the building offers access to 15 subway lines, LIRR, NJ Transit, PATH, and Amtrak. Metro-North access will be added in 2027.
The move is scheduled for 2027, positioning UMG in a prime location adjacent to Madison Square Garden, creating an ideal nexus for employees, artists, and songwriters in the heart of Manhattan's new West Side.
