Unhurd Acquires Music Education App IndieKnow, Plans 2025 Platform Integration
AI-powered music promotion platform Unhurd has acquired IndieKnow, a release-focused education and marketing app based in Bangkok. The acquisition aims to enhance Unhurd's educational resources for artists preparing music releases.

IndieKnow, founded in 2021 by Andy Haggerstone, offers artists a comprehensive release planner with promotional checklists, a press release writing tool, and access to over 1,000 PR and radio contacts. The service currently costs £7 monthly or £60 annually.
The acquisition includes all of IndieKnow's assets but not its personnel. Unhurd plans to integrate IndieKnow's features into its platform by early 2025, with existing subscribers being transferred to Unhurd's service.
Alex Brees, Unhurd's founder and CEO, describes the acquisition as "a natural alignment" that will enhance value for subscribers. "IndieKnow is a cornerstone of knowledge and empowerment for artists," says Brees, "and un:hurd has always been about helping artists cut through the noise more effectively."
This expansion follows Unhurd's seven-figure seed round in Q1 2023 and aligns with recent industry investments in music promotion startups. Notable examples include SongTools' $3 million funding for its SongFly advertising tool and Groover's $8 million Series A round, both completed in February 2024.
While financial terms weren't disclosed, both parties expressed satisfaction with the agreement. The integration of IndieKnow's educational resources is expected to help bridge what Unhurd calls "the all-important knowledge gap for artists in getting release ready."
