Starting May 1, developers can access Lil Wayne's tracks "Uproar" and "GO DJ," along with CG5's "I See A Dreamer," "Sleep Well," "Let Me In," and "Dancin'" through the HEAT platform. This marketplace connects game developers, animators, and 3D artists with motion data and music resources.
The partnership focuses on seamless emote licensing for gaming projects, similar to Fortnite's character feature packs that have included artists like Nicki Minaj, Billie Eilish, and Travis Scott.
According to Alvaro Galbete-Velilla, SVP of New Business at UMG, this initiative allows UMG labels and artists to distribute tracks directly into gaming development tools, enhancing fan engagement and creating viral gaming experiences.
HEAT CEO John Stavas emphasizes that this collaboration with Republic Records, Virgin Music Group, and UMG opens new creative and commercial opportunities for artists across gaming platforms, from AAA titles to indie 3D creators.
UMG is celebrating the partnership at GDC with events at San Francisco's Monarch Club, featuring a closing DJ set by Virgin Music Group artist SOFI TUKKER. This collaboration represents UMG's continued expansion into gaming industry partnerships.
