The partnership, which began in 2012, helped launch SZA into superstardom with two critically acclaimed albums: Ctrl and SOS. The latter debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and maintained that position for 10 consecutive weeks, a remarkable achievement for an R&B album.

SZA addressed the split on her Instagram Story, stating: "Nothing to celebrate. The end of an era. I wish him the best, whatever his choices may be." She emphasized her continued respect for Punch, urging fans not to attack him on social media: "And to be clear, I love Punch deeply. NO ONE should be attacking him or being cruel on my behalf. Sometimes people grow apart, and that's okay."

The separation appears to stem from recent complications surrounding the release of SOS's deluxe version, Lana. SZA mentioned challenges in releasing tracks "PSA" and "Take You Down," noting that while these releases were previously discussed with Punch, his abrupt departure complicated the process.

While TDE has not officially commented on the separation, both parties maintain the split was amicable despite the recent challenges.
