The four-time Grammy winner explains that even after a decade of success, she still feels uncomfortable with public attention. "I don't really know what is happening. I don't know what the hell is going on," she admits, contrasting her experience with peers like Keke Palmer who seem more naturally adapted to fame.
Coming from a conventional background in the suburbs with regular schooling and odd jobs, SZA emphasizes that her path to stardom wasn't intentional. "They'll be like, 'That's what you signed up for,' and then I'm like, 'I didn't even know what I was signing up for, actually. I just made a couple songs, and I was grateful that they were liked.'"
Despite her complicated relationship with fame, SZA continues to achieve remarkable success. Her latest release, SOS Deluxe: Lana (December 20), follows the tremendous success of SOS, which dominated the Billboard 200 chart for multiple weeks. The album recently reclaimed the No. 1 spot after 22 months, driven by excitement surrounding the deluxe edition.
Looking ahead, SZA plans to expand her creative horizons by developing two children's albums, showcasing her versatility as an artist while maintaining her authentic approach to music-making.
