Thalia Graves filed the lawsuit in federal court, claiming that Combs and his then-head of security, Joseph "Big Joe" Sherman, drugged, assaulted, and recorded the incident without her consent. The lawsuit seeks a jury trial and comes shortly after Combs' federal indictment on sex trafficking and other charges.
According to the lawsuit:
- Graves met Combs around 1999-2000 through her boyfriend, an executive at Bad Boy Records
- In summer 2001, Combs invited then-25-year-old Graves to discuss her boyfriend's "performance issues"
- She was allegedly drugged in an SUV and taken to Bad Boy studio in Manhattan
- The lawsuit claims she was bound, assaulted by both men, and lost consciousness multiple times
- A driver later took her to the hospital, but she was too frightened to report the incident
Graves states she recently learned about a video recording of the assault when her former boyfriend revealed that Combs and Sherman had shown it to several men. She claims both men threatened her to stay silent in subsequent years.
Sherman has denied the allegations, stating he was not employed by Combs at the time of the alleged assault and does not know Graves.
The lawsuit details that Graves continues to suffer from anxiety, panic attacks, and hypervigilance, affecting her relationships with family and friends.
