The collaboration includes:

  • WBGO 88.8 FM (Newark Public Radio)
  • WQXR 105.9 FM (New York Public Radio)
  • WFUV 90.7 FM (Fordham University Public Radio)
  • WSHU 91.1 FM (Sacred Heart University Public Radio)

The Corporation for Public Broadcasting has provided funding to develop a five-year business model for the initiative. This model will serve as a template for similar collaborations nationwide, focusing on:

  • Content creation
  • Audience growth
  • Revenue generation
  • Digital strategy development

Public Media Company will guide the collaborative's strategic direction, while Paragon will conduct digital audits and membership analysis for each station. The partnership aims to leverage the stations' combined influence in America's largest media market while maintaining each station's unique identity and goals.

This groundbreaking collaboration, which has been informally discussed for over a decade, represents the first time these influential broadcasters will work together systematically to enhance public radio programming in the tri-state area, potentially revolutionizing how public radio stations collaborate across the country.

The initiative emphasizes accessibility and community service, with each station maintaining its distinctive programming while benefiting from shared resources and expertise. This model could potentially transform how public radio stations operate and serve their communities nationwide.
