Nipsey Hussle's Killer Has Appeal Denied by California Court, Verdict Stands
Eric Holder, convicted of killing Nipsey Hussle in 2019, has failed in his attempt to appeal the 2022 court decision. California's Court of Appeal Second Appellate District upheld the original guilty verdict on November 5.

Holder's appeal challenged two aspects of the original verdict:
- The court's decision to disallow portions of his attorney's closing argument about his state of mind
- The application of a firearm enhancement to his sentence
The appeals court rejected both arguments, noting that Holder provided no evidence about his thoughts or feelings before the shooting. The court also affirmed that the firearm enhancement was appropriately applied, citing the "high degree of cruelty, viciousness, and callousness" in Hussle's murder.
The murder's impact extended beyond the immediate tragedy, affecting the hip-hop community significantly. Notable artist Freddie Gibbs revealed that Hussle's death nearly prompted him to quit music, a sentiment he later expressed in his track "On the Set" and his album You Only Die 1nce.
