Nicki Minaj faces a $240 million lawsuit from rapper Brinx Billions (Jawara Headley) over alleged copyright infringement of the 2018 track "Rich Sex" and unpaid royalties for "I Endorse These Strippers."

The lawsuit, filed in New York federal court, claims Brinx Billions is the original creator of "Rich Sex," which he wrote and produced in 2016. The suit alleges Minaj used 95-99% of his work without permission after he shared it with her following their 2007 MySpace connection.

Additional defendants include Universal Music Group, Republic Records, Young Money Entertainment, Cash Money Records, and Minaj's Tokyo Ninja label.

The $240 million claim breaks down as:

  • $200 million in damages from all defendants
  • $40 million from Minaj/Tokyo Ninja for breach of contract, fraud, conversion, and misappropriation

The lawsuit also addresses unpaid royalties for "I Endorse These Strippers," claiming Minaj failed to pay the agreed 15% revenue share since 2017, despite acknowledging the debt.

While Minaj hasn't publicly responded to these allegations, it's worth noting that in September 2020, a federal judge ruled her track "Sorry" could be protected under fair use in a separate copyright case involving Tracy Chapman's "Baby Can I Hold You."
