Neil Young Rejects Platinum Tickets, Stands Against Fan Exploitation
Neil Young is taking a stand against Ticketmaster's platinum ticketing system for his upcoming Love Earth Tour, citing it as fan exploitation. Inspired by Robert Smith's efforts to keep The Cure's ticket prices affordable, Young announced he will eliminate platinum pricing for his shows.
"Dynamic pricing is the story of the bad thing that has happened to concerts world-wide," Young stated on his Neil Young Archives site. While the system was initially implemented to combat scalpers and redirect profits to artists, Young feels the practice "did not feel right" and has decided to "let the people work this out."
