The fund targets both mobile and mixed reality content development, making Meta's platform accessible to users without Quest headsets. Creators in eligible countries can earn through the Meta Horizon Creator Program, which has expanded from its initial markets (US, UK, and Canada) to include 18 additional countries across Europe, Asia-Pacific, and Oceania.
Monthly bonuses will be distributed based on:
- Time spent in worlds
- User retention rates
- In-world purchases
Key Features of the Desktop Editor:
- Custom model import for high-fidelity worlds
- TypeScript support for complex game logic
- Mobile optimization tools
- Generative AI tools (US only) for sound effects and ambient audio
- Available to creators aged 13+ in supported countries
A special $1 million mobile-focused competition launches March 11, offering additional opportunities for creators to monetize their content.
The initiative mirrors Roblox's Creator Fund model, though Meta's approach differs by rewarding engagement rather than providing upfront funding. This strategic move positions Meta to compete more effectively in the growing mixed reality space while building a robust creator ecosystem.
