Mega Millions is implementing significant changes starting April 8, making it potentially more rewarding for players. Here's everything you need to know about the new format:

  • Ticket price increases from $2 to $5
  • Starting jackpot rises to $50 million (up from $20 million)
  • Built-in multiplier included at no extra cost
  • Better overall odds: 1 in 23 (previously 1 in 24)
  • Improved jackpot odds: 1 in 290.4 million (from 1 in 302.5 million)

Prize Structure:

  • Non-jackpot prizes range from $10 to $10 million
  • Automatic multiplier can boost prizes by 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, or 10x
  • "Just the Jackpot" feature discontinued

  • Final drawing of current format: April 4
  • First drawing of new format: April 8 at 11 p.m. ET

  • Pick five numbers (1-70)
