Lo-fi label Arden Records has announced the launch of its publishing division to further support and empower its roster of artists. The expansion aims to create new opportunities as lo-fi music continues to gain mainstream popularity.

Founded in 2021 by lo-fi pioneer sagun alongside music executives Jordan Smith and Andrew Kwan, Arden Records has established itself as an artist-first label dedicated to the lo-fi genre. The company partners with Platoon and represents notable artists including clay house, DAVI JUNO, French WiFi, Maono, and others.

The publishing arm will focus on:

  • Supporting producers and songwriters as artists
  • Managing royalty collection and administration
  • Creating collaboration opportunities across genres
  • Championing authentic human-created music over AI-generated content

The label has already demonstrated its impact through high-profile collaborations, including sagun's production work on UMI's 2024 single "wherever u r" featuring BTS member V.

"After three years of seeing how powerful a unified roster of artists can be, we are launching our publishing arm to explore a new creative workflow for our Arden Records' family," says co-founder Jordan Smith. The company aims to showcase how impactful alternate versions of songs can be while highlighting their producers' talents.

Co-founder Andrew Kwan emphasizes their commitment to authentic musicianship, especially important as AI-generated music becomes more prevalent in the lo-fi genre. The publishing venture will help protect artists' creative rights while simplifying royalty collection, allowing them to focus on their artistic development.
