Lady Gaga & Bruno Mars Break Spotify Record as 'Die With a Smile' Hits Billion Streams Fastest
Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars' collaborative single "Die With a Smile" has set a new record as Spotify's fastest song to reach one billion streams. The track, released in August, dominated charts globally, securing the #1 position on Billboard Global 200 for eight consecutive weeks after debuting at #3 on the Hot 100.

The song's success has been amplified through multiple versions, including an acoustic rendition and a "Live in Las Vegas" edition released in October. The track has earned Grammy nominations for Song of the Year and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for 2025.
The duo first performed the song live at Mars' Los Angeles Intuit Dome show, followed by a performance at his Las Vegas Park MGM residency. The track surpassed Miley Cyrus' "Flowers" previous streaming record.
Gaga expressed gratitude on Instagram, stating, "Watching fans from all over the world celebrate this music has meant so much to me, to see the words of the song touch your heart and the video provoke this huge wave of dancing and fun is beautiful to watch."
The collaboration adds to both artists' impressive track records, with Mars now tied with Justin Bieber for most Pop Airplay #1 hits among male solo artists at 10, while Gaga has achieved eight.
Gaga is currently promoting her seventh album, scheduled for February release, with her recent single "Disease." She also released "Harlequin" in September, accompanying the musical film "Joker: Folie à Deux," where she stars with Joaquin Phoenix.
Mars recently collaborated with Rosé on "Apt," which accumulated over 100 million Spotify streams in its first week.
