The latest lawsuit, filed on November 25, includes Satterthwaite, his deceased mother Wanda, and guardian Dr. Lillie Coley as plaintiffs. They allege constitutional rights violations by New Jersey courts between 2012 and 2023, citing "fraudulent court actions" involving sealed records and wrongful sanctions.
Key details of the case:
- Wanda claimed in a sworn affidavit that she had relations with Carter (Jay-Z) in 1992 when she was 16
- Satterthwaite was born in summer 1993
- Initial paternity case began in 2012 in Camden County, New Jersey
- Earlier attempts to establish paternity were complicated by jurisdictional issues between Pennsylvania and New Jersey
- A previous potential father, Robert Graves, was ruled out through DNA testing
The case has faced numerous legal obstacles, including:
- Pennsylvania's requirement that paternity be established before a child reaches adulthood
- New Jersey's age of "parentage" limit of 23
- Disputes over Carter's residence and property ownership in New Jersey
- Allegations that Carter's legal team made false statements about his property holdings
Satterthwaite and his guardian believe Carter's attorneys have actively worked to prevent a paternity test, potentially due to Wanda's age at the time of conception. This renewed legal action coincides with separate allegations against Carter regarding a claimed sexual assault incident from 2000.
