Historic Morrison Hotel, Famous From The Doors Album Cover, Destroyed in Los Angeles Fire
The historic Morrison Hotel in Los Angeles, famously featured on The Doors' fifth album cover, has been destroyed by fire on December 27th. The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) responded to reports of smoke at the 111-year-old building, discovering heavy fire on the fourth floor that quickly spread to the roof.

Over 100 firefighters battled the blaze for 97 minutes, successfully preventing it from spreading to neighboring buildings. Several dozen homeless individuals evacuated the building, with some requiring assistance from firefighters. While no injuries have been reported, authorities haven't confirmed if everyone was safely evacuated. A recovery team will search the premises once deemed safe.
The vacant building, which hasn't been occupied for over 15 years, was slated for restoration as part of a broader redevelopment plan for the area. The LAFD has launched an active investigation into the fire's cause.
The Morrison Hotel gained cultural significance after being featured on The Doors' 1970 album cover. Current band members John Densmore and Robby Krieger haven't publicly commented on the fire, though Krieger, 78, remains active, sharing Jim Morrison paintings on social media and preparing for an upcoming benefit concert on January 4th.
