Stone's legacy spans several decades in the music industry. Born in Columbia, South Carolina in 1961, she began her musical journey singing in church. At 16, she co-founded The Sequence, the first all-female rap group on Sugar Hill Records, known for their hit "Funk You Up."
Her successful solo career included notable achievements such as:

- Transition to Clive Davis' J Records in 2000
Stone's children, Diamond and Michael Archer, released a statement through SRG Group expressing their devastation: "Never in a million years did we ever expect to get this horrible news. We are still trying to process and are completely heartbroken."
At the time of her death, Stone was scheduled to perform at the CIAA Men's Championship basketball game halftime show. CIAA Commissioner Jacqie McWilliams-Parker praised Stone's incredible talent and her ability to inspire others through her music and presence.
